Sleeping Beauty (1959).

PrincessAuroraSleeps I adore this film, and I always have. Its animation cannot be matched, nor can its beauty.

As a young self-styled ‘Disney Kid’ I fell in love with the Sleeping Beauty because of its beautiful, incredibly realistic animation. There are no cutesy talking animals here, or sugar-sweet pops of colour. The detail in the backdrops are just exquisite (see below).

Even if this movie is only 75 minutes long, it is still incredibly beautiful both stylistically and visually. I don’t think any other Disney movie has ever attained such a power of arresting beauty and the power to make its audience fall for it over and over again. There is also plenty of comedy (for example, changing the dress to different colours.)

However, when I watched this when slightly younger I couldn’t deny that there was certainly a strong resemblance between Prince Phillip and Peter Pan…?

“Now, father, you’re living in the past. This is the 14th century!”

MY RATING: 5 / 5.

for some reason, I love how detailed this scene is! Anyone else agree?
