Carry on Henry (1971)

Carry_On_HenryI can’t believe that these movies first got me interested in film…

A nice little romp of a comedy about the romantic frustrations of King Henry – a man we have become very familiar with due to an effusion of films, books and television around.

Whether these films are ‘good’, ‘bad’ or ‘awful’, they are the perfect melding of sex comedy and British humour. Sid James played the leading role well. Joan Sims plays Queen Marie, a French wife of his who happens to have a bit of a fondness for garlic.

It has all the Carry on tropes for those who are fans of the films. While not side-splittingly funny, it has its moments.

MY RATING: 2.5  / 5
