‘Trial and Punishment’
At last, the series is over. They have announced series 3, so that should be good. The series has been quite strong for its entirety and in this episode – the final one for now – they packed a lot in.
With Rochefort now dead, it makes me wonder which dastardly villain will replace him? Maybe the next one will have two eye patches – and a wooden leg! We can but wonder.
In all seriousness though, not all the characters survived the episode. There were poisonings and near-executions aplenty to keep us guessing. Apart from some secondary characters, it is not very likely that they will be doing away with our leather-clad heroes just yet. Milady’s characterization is another thing to keep us guessing and I don’t think she’ll be far away when series 3 pops up.
The way the final episodes were crafted was put across in a way as to not make us feel deprived should the next series not occur – which is of course to the contrary. If series 3 hadn’t been greenlit, then fans of the show would have to be content with the tied up ends which they were given at the end of this episode.
A good series over all. I can’t wait for series 3.
