This series – about women battling the war effort on the Home Front during World War II – has been cancelled as well.
It really was a pity that this show was cancelled. The second series had so much potential and it was shaping up to be a good splodge of drama. The character arcs were interesting and it was the bit of drama that ITV certainly needed instead of its usual helping of tedious tabloid-esque drama.
It was looking to be a good drama with halfway likeable characters and scenarios. There was certainly the potential for that to be the case if the series had been renewed. I hope ITV does a Ripper Street on us and ends up bringing Home Fires back in the future using alternate funding.
It is also quite a pity that there are only six episodes in a series and for a long while I was genuinely waiting for another episode. However, it was not to be and it will be a pity not to have this series on any more.
