Love Actually (2003)

Image result for love actually movieCheesy rom-com about a collection of couples who go through the highs and lows of life and everything in between.

Until November 2016 I had never actually watched this film. Many people who I encountered were aghast at this and it seemed I was missing out on a massively entertaining film which would rocket up my Best Film Ever List. Or perhaps not.

After watching it for the first (and for the moment, last) time, I found it to be very funny indeed and all of the individual narratives were interesting. That being said, some of it was teeth-achingly corny and this was too much at times.

The acting talent in the film was a delight to watch, especially the late Alan Rickman, who was always a fantastic actor no matter what film he was in. The film is a perfect way to switch your brain off for two hours and have a laugh at the same time.

I didn’t really particularly root for any particular couple over the other. The film is corny, there’s no doubt about that, and it is so trite. But its fun, and that’s important! I highly enjoyed this film but I’m not too sure of its repeatability as a viewing experience.

MY RATING: **** / *****
