Diana (Gal Gadot) leaves her island paradise to fight a real world battle, discovering her true destiny.
I always have a bit of a tricky time with films based on comic books. However, my mum and I ended up watching this film because my mum remembered the old Wonder Woman from the 1970s.
I was actually really impressed with this film. Being directed by a woman, this film had promise. The cinematography was stunning, and special effects were used well while also not over saturating the film itself.
Gal Gadot was amazing as Diana / Wonder Woman, while Chris Pine played the male pilot protagonist Steve Trevor. He did it well, but over all I loved the film because of how funny it was. I didn’t like how one dimensional the villain was but that seems to be a given in superhero films. However, the film cleverly identifies that the whole world is at fault and not just one person.
It felt like a bit of a cop out how corny the ending of the film was but I already felt as if the film had been an enjoyable one already so I didn’t feel too cheated as a film viewer.
MY RATING: **** / *****
